Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Repairs are still being made in a seabed waterline rupture to the island of Isla Mujeres. The leak was found Wednesday which has led to low water pressure for island residents.
Aguakan reported finding the rupture Wednesday afternoon, at which time, they started the necessary repairs. However, the company said the fix will take “some time” and that a water truck would be sent to the island Thursday.

“A problem has been detected in the underwater pipeline that supplies drinking water to the island,” Aguakan reported Wednesday.
“Low water pressure or water outages may occur over the next few hours. Our technical team and specialized divers are already working in the area. Thank you for your understanding.”
Several hours later, they posted again that repairs were still underway and that a water truck would be sent Thursday to manually fill tanks.
“Our technical team and specialized divers continue working to repair the leak in the underwater pipeline that supplies the island. We are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
“Tomorrow, Thursday, starting at 7:30 a.m., water trucks will be passing through neighborhoods on the island supplying water. Please put out your containers to be filled, as the repair work on the South Sea pipeline will take some time.”

Last week, a rupture was found in the seabed line that supplies the island of Holbox with water. Water to the island was suspended while CAPA crews made the repairs.
