Tulum, Q.R. — An under construction shopping mall in the town of Tulum was visited by authorities over the weekend. Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo visited the site of Centro Tulum Saturday.
He toured the grounds, inspecting progress of the town’s first formal shopping centre. This development, located in the town center, is considered strategic for the municipality’s economic growth and commercial offerings.
“We toured the construction site at Centro Tulum and it is truly a pleasure to see this strategic project, which will enhance our municipality’s commercial landscape, taking shape,” said Castañón Trejo.
He noted that the complex will be the first formal facility of its kind in the municipality and is seen as a modern gathering place for the entire community.
The project is expected to generate up to 900 jobs and feature 60 spaces dedicated to retail, services, and dining.
Confirmed brands joining the shopping centre include Cinépolis, Chedraui, Smart Fit, Starbucks, Toks, Domino’s, Promoda, and Coppel, reflecting the interest of national and international chains investing in the area.
The project marks a significant step in modernizing Tulum’s commercial infrastructure, meeting the growing demand for services and leisure spaces from its rapidly expanding population.
The mayor highlighted that this project is part of efforts to transform and foster the orderly growth of the municipality. “By working as a team, transformation moves forward in Tulum,” he said.
Castañón Trejo did not provide an overall cost for the project or a possible completion date.
