Tulum, Q.R. — A Canadian man is among those arrested in the recent shooting death of a Tulum taxi driver. A Tulum taxi driver police have identified as Manuel Luciano was found dead inside his cab August 21.
Tulum police say three men were arrested two days after the discovery of Luciano’s body and are part of a criminal group.
They have been identified as Miguel David “N” alias “El Mayki” from Canada, Christopher Manuel “N” alias “El Cris” from Mexico City, and Angel Nahum “N” alias “El Fantasma”, a 17 year old teen.
According to the Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection were initially arrested on narcotic and firearm offences, however, they have since been connected to the murder of Manual Luciano.
Investigations conducted by the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office indicate that these individuals are linked to the aggravated homicide of Manuel Luciano, the driver of taxi unit 1126, an incident that occurred on August 21 of this year, police reported Tuesday.
During their weekend arrests, Tulum police said they seized one 9mm firearm along with 80 packets containing green plant matter with characteristics similar to marijuana.
Authorities said that Manuel Luciano was found shot to death inside his taxi that was reported parked along the federal highway on the morning of August 21. He had been shot three times with a 9mm weapon.
A motive for the murder has not been released.
