Cancun, Q.R. — Local authorities are investigating what appears to be the murder of a man in his own home. On Wednesday, an elderly man was found dead inside his Cancun home from stab wounds.
Neighbors say the elderly man was attacked with a knife in his home Wednesday night by a woman. Police were called to the private home in the Valle Verde neighborhood of Cancun after he was found in a pool of blood.
Neighbors who found the man called emergency 9-1-1 for assistance.
Municipal police arrived, confirming the scene. Their arrival was followed by paramedics who confirmed the man was dead.
Police began their investigation with neighbor information that his attacker was likely a woman they saw “hurriedly leaving” the house on foot. It is unclear if the woman alleged responsible for the attack was an acquaintance of the now-deceased or if she lived in the home.
