At the time, the disturbance was given only a 10 percent likelihood of further development, however, in the past week, the disturbance meandered north and has since developed into named storm Arthur.

According to the National Hurricane Center (NOAA), Arthur developed near the middle Texas coast early Wednesday morning. The storm is expected to produce life-threatening floods across portions of the southeastern U.S.

Tropical Storm Arthur is currently located 40 miles (65 kilometers) from Port O’Conner, Texas with 40 mph (65 km/h) winds. A tropical storm warning has been issued and extended west into the state of Texas as rains are likely within the next 12 hours.

The NOAA reports Tropical Storm Arthur is moving northeast at 9 mph (15 km/h) with an increase in speed likely. The storm is forecast to travel along the Texas coast Wednesday before moving inland over southwestern Louisiana Wednesday night.

Forecasters are not expecting Tropical Storm Arthur to gain momentum, but weaken as it makes landfall and dissipate sometime Thursday.
