Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The driver of a cargo truck was lucky to walk away from a crash Friday that left his vehicle totaled. The vehicle was left totaled after the driver dozed at the wheel and slammed into a highway sign.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the single vehicle highway accident Friday approximately 18 kilometers south of Playa del Carmen. At the scene, police found the white cargo truck and motor separated along the highway.
Available informtion says the driver drifted off the roadway to the right while traveling north and struck an SICT (infrastructure agency) sign head-on.
The impact toppled the structure and caused the vehicl’s engine to be ejected, leaving it a total loss.

The driver of the vehicle and is passenger received only minor injuries. Riviera Maya highway traffic was slowed in the area while authorities cleared the right lane.
