Municipal officials started the revamping project earlier this month to improve the roadway while modernizing the busy corridor.

Gómez Ricalde reported Thursday that they are making significant progress on the paving of Prolongación Rueda Medina. The comprehensive project will transform one of Isla Mujeres’ main thoroughfares and improve traffic conditions for local families and visitors alike, the Municipal Government reported.

The project entails the rehabilitation of approximately two kilometers of roadway, specifically the stretch between the ferry terminal and Chedraui. and includes not only paving but also the refurbishment of sidewalks and curbs, thereby enhancing safety and accessibility for both pedestrians and motorists.

Work is currently focused on the final section, with significant progress made this week toward the project’s completion.

Through these efforts, the Municipal Government continues to modernize urban infrastructure and improve a roadway that is integral to the daily lives of local families and serves as a key tourist corridor within the island zone.

The transformation of Prolongación Rueda Medina represents a strategic initiative to build a more modern, organized, and accessible Isla Mujeres, creating better conditions for those who live in and travel through the area every day.
