Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Paving of the island’s Rueda Medina Extension is well underway at the ferry terminal. Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde says work will soon be finished between the Ultracarga Ferry terminal and the Chedraui store.
Paving in one of the island’s most busy areas started last week and includes upgrades to two kilometers of curbs and sidewalks. The project was started after the recent completion of paving on the Sac Bajo highway and Jesús Martínez Ross Avenue.
In a statement, Isla Mujeres City Council said “the municipal government led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde continues to advance infrastructure projects that are transforming mobility in the municipality.”
This includes “the start of paving work on the Rueda Medina Extension, specifically the stretch between the Ultracarga Ferry terminal and the Chedraui store.
“This major project also includes the rehabilitation of two kilometers of curbs and sidewalks, aiming to provide safer, more functional, and accessible roadways for island families and the visitors who travel through this area daily.
“As part of the strategy to modernize the municipality’s road infrastructure, paving work was also recently carried out on the Sac Bajo highway and Jesús Martínez Ross Avenue.
“The Isla Mujeres Municipal Government appreciates the public’s understanding regarding any temporary inconvenience caused by the work and urges everyone to respect traffic signs and the instructions of the construction crew, noting that the benefits of this investment will be lasting for all.”
