Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun city authorities have shut down a real estate development they say is illegal and pre-selling without permits. The up and coming housing project Mayorales is located near Huayacan Avenue as an irregular development.
Acting Cancun mayor Landy Guadalupe Canché Pantoja said the development was inspected and subsequently shut down after a citizen complaint. She said closure of the project is part of the city’s commitment to ensure all developments comply with current regulations.
In response to a citizen report, the Benito Juarez City Council carried out the closure of the real estate project called “Mayorales” located near Huayacan Avenue, city officials reported in a statement.
Acting Mayor, Landy Guadalupe Canché Pantoja, confirmed its closure and reaffirmed the commitment to address reports made by Cancun residents as well as to ensure that developments comply with current regulations.
The Mayor said these types of closure are part of permanent actions to preserve urban order, prevent possible irregularities, and protect the assets of families.
The Mayorales real estate development was shut down Friday by Cancun officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (PPA), the Municipal Secretariat of Ecology and Urban Development and the Civil Protection Directorate.
