Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A pedestrian was struck and killed as he ran across a busy Playa del Carmen road Sunday night. The deceased, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead after being struck by a car while trying to cross Playa del Carmen Boulevard.
The accident happened on Playa del Carmen Boulevard near 4th Street where the man was struck by a Nissan Tsuru. Motorists who witnessed the accident made the report to police around 11:00 p.m.
Authorities arrived to find the victim lying on the road. Paramedics confirmed that the man had no vital signs.
The driver of the Tsuru was taken into custody from the scene of the accident.
The area was cordoned off while officials removed the man’s body from the boulevard.
