Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Ongoing power outages around the state has led to the request for an official meeting. On Friday, heads of state met with personnel from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to address the problem.
According to authorities, the meeting was to follow up on the needs raised by residents of rural communities in the south of the state and to strengthen the electricity service.
State Secretary Cristina Torres Gómez, led the Friday meeting with delegates from the municipalities of Othón P. Blanco and Bacalar, as well as representatives of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
She reported that during the meeting, a joint action plan was established to address the effects caused by interruptions in the supply.
Under the instructions of Governor Mara Lezama, the Ministry of the Interior is maintaining open work meetings with authorities, agencies, and community representatives to closely monitor agreements and ensure that actions translate into benefits for the inhabitants of rural communities.
At the meeting, it was agreed that the Federal Electricity Commission will begin maintenance work in the coming days through an assigned contractor, while the communities will participate in a coordinated manner in cleaning the strips where the power lines are located, in order to facilitate preventive work and reduce service failures.
As part of the established commitments, CFE will carry out load balancing of the transformers in the community of Limones, an action that will improve the distribution of electrical energy and reduce the overloads that cause blackouts.
Torres reported that the action plan also includes the pruning of trees whose branches interfere with electrical wiring on private properties as well as the review of meter readings in specific cases.
Both sides also agreed on the scheduling of inspections to verify the cleanliness of transmission lines and prevent overloads in transformers, as well as the identification of irregular connections to proceed in accordance with current regulations and avoid damage to the electrical system.
Cristina Torres emphasized that addressing this demand is the result of the ongoing dialogue promoted by the State Government with communities, prioritizing coordination between institutions and citizen participation to build solutions that respond to the needs of the population.
