CGC announces resumption of Cancun-Playa del Carmen Tren Maya route with Conecta bus service

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Local officials say the Cancun–Playa del Carmen route of the Maya Train returns will return August 15. With that return, an intermodal service will also be included.

“Starting August 15, trains between both destinations will resume operation with morning schedules, and Tren Maya Conecta will begin, a transportation service that will link the stations with the airport, hotel zone and strategic points in Cancun and Playa del Carmen,” CGC (General Coordination of Communication) reported in a statement.

Governor Mara Lezama says that the Cancun-Playa del Carmen route of the Maya Train will resume on August 15, a mobility alternative aimed primarily at those who travel for work, education, and recreation.

The route aims to serve one of the corridors with the highest daily mobility in Quintana Roo and offer a rail transport option for those who need to travel between both destinations.

According to the announced schedules, trips from Cancun to Playa del Carmen will depart at 6:45 a.m., arriving at 7:34 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m., arriving at 11:19 a.m.

In the opposite direction, from Playa del Carmen to Cancun, there will be departures at 7:47 a.m., arriving at 8:40 a.m., and at 12:00 p.m., arriving at 12:53 p.m.

Information on schedules, availability and reservations can be found by calling 55 9771 1000, as well as on the official websites trenmaya.gob.mx and reservas.ventaboletostrenmaya.com.mx.

Additionally, Mara Lezama announced that the “Tren Maya Conecta” intermodal passenger transport service will also begin operating on August 15, designed to facilitate the transfer of workers, visitors and tourists between the railway stations and different points in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

Three routes will be available in Cancun:

Tren Maya Cancun–Cancun Airport Station, with stops at the station and Cancun International Airport.

Tren Maya Cancun–Plaza Las Americas Station, with a stop at Plaza Las Americas.

Tren Maya Cancun–Hotel Zone Station, with stops at the station, the Cancun Mayan Museum and Plaza La Isla Cancun.

Two routes will operate in Playa del Carmen:

Maya Train Station Playa del Carmen–Plaza Playacar, with stops at the station, Plaza Quinta Alegría, Plaza 28 de Julio, the Tourist Assistance and Protection Center (CAPTA) and Plaza Playacar.

Maya Train Station Playa del Carmen–Mayan Hotel Zone, which will directly connect the train station with that hotel zone.

With the launch of both services, users will have an alternative to combine rail transport with journeys to work areas, shopping centers, tourist areas, the airport and hotel zones, which seeks to facilitate the movements of Quintana Roo residents and visitors in one of the main urban and tourist corridors of Quintana Roo.
