Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen taxi driver was left with only minor injuries after embedding his car on a highway guardrail. Police were called to the scene late Sunday when the driver lost control along 30th Street in the city’s center.
Municipal Police responded to reports of the accident at the base of an overpass along Playa del Carmen Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. At the scene, they found a city taxi hung up on a metal guardrail.
The front of the cab was embedded by the structure and the driver, gone.
Police found the driver three blocks from the scene of the crash. Despite the severity of the accident, the Playa del Carmen taxi driver sustained only minor injuries.
Speed and wet roads are said to have contributed to the accident.
