Governor stresses zero tolerance policy between aggressive taxi and Uber drivers

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama says the state has a zero tolerance policy for aggression against Uber drivers. Taxi drivers found involved in aggressive behavior toward digital platform drivers are punished.

In a public address, the Governor affirmed that she does not condone or cover up criminals and that no one is, or will be, above or outside the law. “There is zero tolerance for aggression or violence that puts the integrity of people at risk and tarnishes the image of the tourist destinations in the state,” she said.

She reiterated that there will be no tolerance, not even one iota, for aggression between taxi drivers and digital platforms.

Work is being done with Imoveqroo to cancel concessions and licenses of those involved in the latest events, she explained regarding two Playa del Carmen taxi drivers who intercepted and damaged a private car after mistaking it for an Uber.

There are instructions for the State Attorney General’s Office to apply exemplary sanctions to those found responsible, she said.
