Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A construction worker lost his life after falling from the fifth floor of a building under construction. The accident happened Tuesday around 6:00 p.m. in the city’s El Pedregal neighborhood.
Am ambulance responded to a report at 75th Avenue and 44th Street where the worker was reported lying on the ground. Responding paramedics confirmed the worker dead at the scene.
According to early information, the male worker was laying bricks on the upper level of the building when he slipped and fell over the side of the building.
It was reported that authorities noted the deceased worker was not wearing any safety equipment when he was found laying on the ground.
The construction site was secured by police and Civil Protection officers while an investigation was started. Preliminary reports indicate that the worker was nearing the end of his work shift at the time of the accident. Police have not released his name.
