Cozumel, Q.R. — A woman who suffered a seizure while at sea was medically evacuated by the Mexican Navy Tuesday. In a statement, they reported on the medical evacuation of the woman from a sailboat off the Island of Cozumel.
“The Mexican Navy, acting as Coast Guard, reports that a medical evacuation of a person was carried out off the coast of Cozumel Island, Quintana Roo.
“This action was taken after receiving an emergency call from a sailboat requesting the medical evacuation of a woman who had suffered a seizure,” they said.
The Naval Search, Rescue, and Maritime Surveillance Station of Cozumel was ordered to immediately deploy a Defender-class vessel with Naval Medical personnel on board.
“Upon arriving at the emergency location, the individual was assessed and evacuated. They were taken to Cozumel Island and subsequently transferred to a local hospital for further specialized medical care,” the Navy said in their statement.

The Mexican Navy continues its mission to ensure the safety of individuals and the protection of human life at sea.
