Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two more active Playa del Carmen taxi drivers have been found driving city streets with fake licenses. The two drivers were pulled over in separate incidences where they handed officers fake out-of-state licenses.
One Playa del Carmen taxi driver, 62-year-old Octavio “N”, was pulled over in his unit for not wearing a seatbelt. While reviewing his paperwork, he handed officers a fake driver’s license from the state of Morelia.
“Octavio “N”, 62 years old, originally from Morelia, was driving a vehicle authorized as a taxi on Avenue 10 between streets 34 and 38 in the Centro neighborhood when Transit elements saw him driving without wearing a seat belt. The now detained man gave the officers a driver’s license that did not have the security indicators,” the Seguridad Pública Solidaridad (SSP) said.
“In the same area, José “N”, 28 years old from Tabasco, was also driving a vehicle authorized as a taxi when the officers stopped him for driving with darkened windows. He later gave the officers a driver’s license that did not have record of the procedure nor the corresponding security locks,” the SSP reported.
Both subjects were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office for being in possession of apocryphal driver’s licenses.
Last month during traffic stops, two other Playa del Carmen taxi drivers, a man and a woman, were found operating with fake out-of-state driver’s licenses on Playa del Carmen streets.
