Suspect in two June Playa del Carmen murders returned from Jalisco to face charges

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The main suspect in two Playa del Carmen murders been returned to the state from Jalisco. Police reported on Friday that Ángel Eduardo “N”, alias “El Ruso”, was arrested in Zapopan in connection to two June 2026 murders.

“Ángel Eduardo “N” had an arrest warrant for his probable participation in events possibly constituting the crime of aggravated homicide which occurred on June 15 of this year against a male of reserved identity,” the State Attorney General (FGE) said in a statement Friday.

Ángel Eduardo “N” was taken into custody by elements of the Investigative Police in collaboration with the FGE of Jalisco. They executed an arrest warrant against Ángel Eduardo “N”, alias “El Ruso”, considered a priority target of the Crime Atlas (Most Wanted) in the state of Quintana Roo.

“After three months of field investigations, office work and technological analysis carried out by the Quintana Roo FGE, a tactical group traveled to the state of Jalisco where, in coordination with the FGE of Jalisco, they located and arrested Ángel Eduardo “N” in the municipality of Zapopan,” police said.

According to the investigations, Ángel Eduardo “N”, in complicity with another person, ordered the murder of the now-deceased victim. Police say the victim was shot at a residence in the Palmas I subdivision of Playa del Carmen and subsequently died as a result of the injuries.

Police have also said that their investigations establishes that Ángel Eduardo “N” also had a second arrest warrant “for his probable participation in the aggravated homicide of a male which occurred on June 23 of this year in the parking lot of a self-service store located on Luis Donaldo Colosio Avenue in Playa del Carmen.”

The investigations carried out by the FGE Office established that both homicides were ordered by Ángel Eduardo “N” and “another subject”. Police have not identified the second person they say is likely involved, however, they did say the men “probably used members of a criminal cell to carry out the attacks.”

Authorities have added that their investigations link Ángel Eduardo “N” as one of the main generators of violence in Playa del Carmen and as an intellectual author in various homicides that have occurred during this year.
