Cancun, Q.R. — An investigation into an accident that left two dead in the Cancun Hotel Zone continues. On Friday night, police say two men were killed in a single vehicle crash that was likely due to speeding.

According to the local State Attorney General (FGE), “the victims, identified by the initials J.S.P. and J.D.R.R.. lost their lives. They were traveling in a black Cadillac Escalade bearing Quintana Roo license plates.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that speeding was likely the cause of the accident.”
Emergency services were sent to the scene along Boulevard Kukulcán where the SUV came to a stop after crashing into palm trees. Both men inside the vehicle were killed.
The accident has caught national attention after it was confirmed one of the deceased was the son of Jean Succar Kuri, a once prominent businessman who died in 2024 while service a 93 year prison sentence related to human trafficking.
The driver, who lost control of the vehicle Friday night, is reported to have been the chauffer for the passenger. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene after slamming into palm trees in an attempt to escape a chase by a second vehicle.
The FGE says they are still searching for that second vehicle.
