Tulum, Q.R. — The Tulum International Airport will expand its connectivity with the addition of eight flights. The domestic flights are with Mexicana de Aviación and will be available during the 2026 summer travel season.
“As one of the results of the agreements reached at the Coordination Table for the Tourism Relaunch of Tulum, the governments of Mexico and Quintana Roo, in coordination with Mexicana de Aviación, launched a joint strategy to strengthen air connectivity and boost demand towards Tulum,” the Government reported in a CGC General Coordination of Communication statement.
This action responds to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s vision of strengthening national connectivity as an instrument to promote regional development, consolidate new markets, and take advantage of the country’s strategic infrastructure.

In Quintana Roo, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa is promoting a comprehensive strategy to strengthen Tulum’s positioning based on coordination between the government, the Federal Ministry of Tourism, headed by Josefina Rodríguez, and the private sector.
She says the additional flights will translate connectivity into higher hotel occupancy, economic benefits, and well-being for families.
As part of this strategy, eight additional Mexicana de Aviación flights were announced for July and August, supported by a nationwide promotional campaign.
The campaign will be in effect during the summer-autumn season and will subsequently be evaluated to make the necessary adjustments and continue during the winter season.
The commercial strategy is primarily aimed at the market of the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico, Mexico City, State of Mexico and Hidalgo, with special emphasis on segments with high travel capacity.
To strengthen this strategy, a direct sales campaign will be implemented that integrates the CPTQ Vacation Specials platform, where more than 200 hotels in Quintana Roo currently participate with exclusive promotions.
As part of this effort, the State Government, through the CPTQ, developed and made available to Mexicana de Aviación the creative materials and a national advertising campaign in digital, print, radio and television media to promote flights to Tulum and Chetumal free of charge, strengthening the reach of the campaign.
The participating institutions agreed that the participation of the hotel sector will be crucial to capitalizing on this promotional investment, incorporating competitive offers that will increase flight occupancy and generate greater economic benefits for the destination.

It was also announced that during the month of August, Governor Mara Lezama will lead a meeting with more than 300 travel agents from the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City, with the purpose of strengthening the marketing of the Mexican Caribbean, the World Capital of Vacations.
