Cancun, Q.R. — Two people were killed Friday in a single vehicle accident on Rancho Viejo Avenue of Cancun. The man and woman were found laying dead on the residential road around 8:30 a.m.
Witnesses said the couple were riding a motorcycle when the male driver skidded and collided with the central median, causing both to fall to the pavement. Both of them landed hard, hitting their heads. Neither were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
Paramedics confirmed both the man and woman died at the scene. An official cause of the accident remains unknown.
Municipal police officers arrived to cordoned off the area while the coroner removed the bodies. Authorities have not named the deceased or commented on the Friday morning accident.
