Tulum, Q.R. — Construction of the new C2 Control and Command Centre for Tulum is nearing the halfway mark. On Saturday, Governor Mara Lezama toured the under-construction building with Tulum Mayor, Diego Castañón Trejo.
The building, which is being constructed at a cost of more than 28 million pesos, is reported 48 percent complete. Governor Lezama said once finished, the C2 Centre will provide increased security for the municipality’s more than 50,000 residents and 2.5 million annual visitors.
“We monitored the progress of the C2 of Tulum. A historic and priority project that strengthens security in our state. This center, with 48 percent progress and more than 28 million pesos invested, will protect 50,000 inhabitants and the more than 2.5 million visitors that this destination receives,” Lezama reported Saturday.
Mayor Castañón Trejo reiterated the figures adding that “We continue working for a safe Tulum!”
Construction began in June of this year. At the time, Castañón Trejo said the new C2 will include cutting-edge video surveillance systems and the integration of various security and emergency departments, which will allow for better coordination.
