Three charged with broad daylight murder of Cancun Croc leader

Cancun, Q.R. — Three men have been charged in the broad daylight shooting death of a Cancun union leader. Local authorities say all three were linked “for their probable connection to acts possibly constituting the crime of aggravated homicide.”

Ángel Yahir “N”, Arnulfo “N” and Óscar Guillermo “N” have been charged for events that occurred on August 4 of this year when, at approximately 1:48 p.m., the victim was shot while in his truck in a parking lot in SM 59.

Police recapped that two individuals arrived at the scene on a food delivery motorcycle. The driver was Arnulfo “N,” while Ángel Yahir “N” was riding as co-pilot. According to police, he was the person who got off the motorcycle, approached the victim’s truck and shot him repeatedly, killing him.

The two men then fled on the motorcycle, abandoning it on Estrella Street in SM 27 to take a taxi. They headed to a convenience store on Bonampak Avenue from where they walked to an apartment in SM 64, which was rented by Óscar Guillermo “N”, so they could take shelter.

“Following their arrest in Mexico City and their subsequent transfer to Cancun, the judge ordered the three men to be prosecuted and imposed preventive detention for two years or the duration of the judicial proceedings,” police said.

Police have reported that union leader Mario “N” was killed over leadership dispute control of the CROC union branch of Cancun.
