Cancun, Q.R. — Police are investigating the broad daylight murder of a state union leader. Mario “N”, the leader of CROC (Confederación Revolucionaria de Obreros y Campesinos), was shot and killed Monday while driving in Cancun.

He was intercepted while leaving a parking lot in SM 42 by a motorcycle disguised as a food delivery service. One of the men from the motorcycle shot at his vehicle several times, killing Mario “N” behind the wheel.
On Monday afternoon, the State Attorney General’s Office said an investigation into aggravated homicide had been started. The motorcycle and fast food backpack used in the fatal attack has been located, however, those on board responsible for pulling the trigger have not.

“The FGE reports that it has initiated an investigation into whoever is responsible for the crime of aggravated homicide following the events in which a man identified as Mario “N,” lost his life aboard a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicle on the streets of Cancun,

“According to preliminary investigations, the assailants, who were traveling on a motorcycle, one of whom was carrying a backpack of fast food, fired at the vehicle as it was leaving a parking lot in Superblock 42. The person died at the scene as a result of gunshot wounds.

“It is reported that the motorcycle used in this incident has already been located, as well as the delivery backpack carried by one of the perpetrators,” they reported.

The FGE also said that “as part of the initial investigation, this Social Representative is establishing as a first line of investigation a possible motive related to activities in his work environment, without ruling out other hypotheses.”

Local authorities are using surveillance cameras as part of their investigative field work to locate those responsible.
