Lázaro Cárdenas, Q.R. — Police seize tactical gear, guns, radio equipment and drugs during raids in Lázaro Cárdenas. Four properties were searched in separate operations Wednesday in the neighboring municipality of Cancun.
The raids came days after a similar military operation was carried out on the island of Holbox, which is also in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas.

Investigative Police, attached to the State Attorney General (FGE), carried out the raids Wednesday in coordination with the Secretariats of National Defense and Navy. On Thursday, authorities reported seizing drugs, firearms, cartridges and casings, in addition to clothing and tactical equipment.
“The first operation took place at a house in the town of San Ángel where agents seized green and dry herbs with characteristics similar to marijuana and pills of various colors,” they reported.
“At the scene there were more than 900 live cartridges, 70 shell casings, a long firearm with a loaded magazine, a gram scale and notebooks with various notes.”
Two other residences, also in the town of San Ángel, were searched. Inside one, police reported finding a wide variety of narcotics, two firearms, metal magazines, live cartridges, radios, adhesive stickers and tactical clothing.
Inside the other home, authorities found narcotics, tactical clothing, ballistic helmets, metal magazines, radios and a pistol-type firearm.
“The final search included a home on Ignacio Allende Street in the town of Solferino, where the executing personnel secured narcotics, tactical clothing such as vests, uniforms and shirts, as well as radios, metal magazines and live cartridges of various calibers,” they said.

“After completing the four procedures, officers proceeded to place the respective security seals on each of the properties, which are now under the custody of the State Attorney General’s Office.”
On February 27, military personnel carried out a raid operation of two buildings on the island of Holbox in search of illegal items and activity. The operations were carried out after Holbox citizens reported criminal activity and island businesses reported extortion attempts.
