Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun Transit officers were at the scene of a two vehicle accident Thursday morning on Tulum Avenue. Officers were called when at least one person was injured in a bus and van crash.
The private bus and public transport van collided at an intersection near Plaza de las Américas. According to early information, the 41 year old bus driver made an illegal left turn, causing him to broadside the public combi van.
Reports indicate that the driver of the bus was taken to hospital. The accident happened shortly after 7:00 a.m. during monring rush hour traffic.
Neither the bus or van were carrying passengers at the time of the accident. Cancun Transit reported congestion due to the collision at the intersection of Avenida Tulum and Avenida Nichupté.
“Traffic officers and the Fire Department are already working at the scene. Motorists are advised to drive with caution and use alternative routes.”
