Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Police have made an arrest after the discovery of skeletal remains were found on a rented Puerto Morelos ranch. The man they have in custody was found in possession of pot, a loaded handgun and license plates for his vehicle from five states.

Police say their suspect was detained in Cancun in relation to the November 6 Puerto Morelos ranch discovery. The skeletal remains of at least 16 people have since been located during the investigation on a private property in the town of Leona Vicario that began earlier this month.
On November 6, authorities located a clandestine cemetery on a property located in the town of Leona Vicario in the municipality of Puerto Morelos. Agents of the Investigation Police assigned to the Specialized Homicide Prosecutor’s Office have since arrested a suspect “possibly related to these events.”
Police have identified their in-custody suspect as Ignacio Eduardo “N”, alias “El Compi”, who, according to initial investigations, may have participated in the activities of a criminal group responsible for drug dealing and violence in the region.
“Initial investigations also indicate that he was the person who arranged the rental of the ranch where the skeletal remains were found,” they reported.
The arrest took place in Superblock 107 on Playa Xcalacoco Street in Cancun. At the time of his arrest, authorities seized a .40 caliber handgun with a loaded magazine and live ammunition, as well as a green leafy substance resembling marijuana.

During his arrest, police said they also seized his vehicle, which they found with license plates from the states of Quintana Roo, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Mexico City.
