State announces 20 million revitalization project for Felipe Carrillo Puerto

The 20,000,000 peso plan includes the repaving of central streets, the painting and finishing of facades, the addition of artistic murals, new roadway signage and more.

“With the urban revitalization project, using ancestral paths, art becomes a social tool. Each color recovers our memory, generates employment for young artists, and creates spaces of community pride,” said Mayor Mary Hernández.

The revitalization project will cover seven streets starting at Santiago Pacheco Street and Benito Juárez to Lázaro Cárdenas Avenue (Benito Juárez Roundabout), and 67th Street and 66th Street, in front of the Municipal Palace.

“The city’s first square will be transformed into a corridor showcasing a diverse gastronomy, community tourism, living history, the culture that makes us proud, natural beauty and environmental stewardship,” she said.

The urban improvement project will also yield clear benefits, such as attracting more tourism to boost the economy, reducing vandalism through participatory art and creating a living trail that educates about our roots and origins.

Governor Lezama said it is a project done together. “We will do it together. Merchants, neighbors and local artists. With this project, we invite the world to explore this great destination of Maya Ka’an because this is where you can feel the living soul of a people who paint their future with deep roots in the past.”
