Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Two people who were transferred to a Cancun hospital from Isla Mujeres with bullet wounds are reported missing. The pair were transferred to a Cancun hospital Friday night for medical treatment after arriving at the Isla Mujeres hospital.
Both the man and woman have been reported missing from the Cancun hospital after walking out while allegedly under police guard. The man and woman had been shot on the island hours earlier. There whereabouts remains unknown.

The man and woman are reported to be a couple in their early 20s. Both were transferred to Cancun for medical treatment by the Mexican Navy after, according to them, they were shot by an unknown subject.
Initial information says 21 year old Christian “N” was driving a golf cart in the company of his girlfriend, Rubí “N”, when they were approached by a man on foot and shot.
The shooting happened around midnight at which time he drove them to the island’s Community Hospital. Christian “N” was shot in his left arm. Rubí “N” was shot in her left leg.
Due to their injuries, they were transferred to the General Hospital of Cancun under the custody of municipal island authorities. Authorities escorted the couple after suspecting the shooting actually happened during a physical altercation between the couple which resulted in both accidently being shot.
Subsequently, Cancun police arrived at the hospital with the intention of formalizing their arrests, however, despite being under Isla Mujeres police guard, they were gone.
Cancun police began an area search for the couple Friday night but without success.

On Friday night, the Secretariat of the Navy of Isla Mujeres reported on the medical transfer of two people from the Community Hospital of Isla Mujeres to the mainland of Puerto Juárez.
“The action was carried out as a result of a request for support in the transfer of a woman who was 15 weeks pregnant and a man, both with gunshot wounds, who required specialized medical attention,” the Navy reported in a statement.
“Therefore, a Defender-class vessel belonging to the Isla Mujeres Search and Rescue Station (ENSAR) was dispatched to transport the patients to the Puerto Juárez Advanced Naval Station.

“There, they were handed over to a private ambulance crew for subsequent transfer to a hospital in Cancun, Quintana Roo, for continued medical treatment. During the transfer, the patients were reported to be stable.”
