Mahahual, Q.R. — The State Attorney General is offering a 1.5 million peso reward for information leading to the capture of Angel Manuel Galindo or El Galindo. He is the criminal drug cell leader being held responsible for the shootout on the Mahahual seawall last week due, to what the FGE has called, police complicity.

Galindo, who continues to successfully evade justice, is also being accused of manipulating public security cameras in the southern region. In particular, he is believed responsible for hacking several security cameras that were dismantled around Felipe Carrillo Puerto by police Monday after they recently dismantled a “command and control security center” they discovered he was operating out of his home.
According to the State Attorney General, “a criminal Command and Surveillance Center was discovered in Felipe Carrillo Puerto and police complicity prevented the capture of El Galindo, the powerful regional boss of the Caborca Cartel.”
According to preliminary information, several of the cameras, placed in strategic areas of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, were found to have been compromised allowing the Caborca Cartel to access the transmissions in real time.
Galindo is the alleged leader of the the Caborca Cartel in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Mahahual and the town of Limones. He was involved in the March 20 shootout with police in Mahahual that left his lieutenant, Eduardo Ameth or “Commander Calaco,” dead.

The shootout was the result of an operation to arrest Galindo. El Galindo is reported to be a powerful regional cartel boss run by the Caro Quintero family. During the operation, four others were arrested.
In a statement, the FGE said “Investigative Police officers were attacked with firearms upon entering an illegal operations center located in a lodging establishment. During the operation, weapons, tactical vests, vehicles and video surveillance equipment used by the detainees were seized. In response to the attack, Eduardo Ameth “N”, alias “Comandante” or “Calaco”, was neutralized.”
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo says the are continuing their investigation that to date, has lead to the seizure of handguns and rifles, tactical vests, vehicles and a laptop computer that was allegedly used to remotely monitor video surveillance cameras at the entrances and exits of Mahahual and Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

“Investigations indicate that the detainees and the deceased were allegedly part of a criminal group engaged in illicit activities in the region, led by Ángel Manuel “N,” alias “El Galindo,” linked to multiple disappearances in the area.”
