Hacienda Mundaca is a site of great historical value for Isla Mujeres, a symbol of identity and collective memory, which is now being brought back to life after years of neglect.

The rehabilitation of this space was carried out respecting its essence, preserving its cultural and natural richness, so that new generations can discover and enjoy this emblematic site.

The reopening of Mundaca will be integrated into a tourist and cultural circuit. That will include Mundaca, the Mirador Mar Turquesa (Turquoise Sea Lookout), Punta Sur and the Malecón Caribe (Caribbean Boardwalk).

Mayor Gómez Ricalde said the goal is to offer locals and tourists a complete experience that combines nature, history and unique landscapes.

Renovation on the site was started in September of 2025. The rehabilitation includes general cleanup of the area, reconstruction of trails, demarcation of historical elements, rehabilitation of bathrooms and the open-air theater and the installation of informational signage.

In addition, a wooden birdwatching tower will be built, enhancing the Hacienda’s natural and tourist value.
