Police and military raid Cancun taxi union office after arrest of their leader for murder

Cancun, Q.R. — State authorities raided a taxi union office in Cancun Monday night after the arrest of their leader for murder. On Monday, police announced the arrest of two more men for the murder of a taxi union member last month.

Police and military surrounded the entire city block during the Monday evening office raid.

One of those two men arrested, Salomón “N”, is the taxi union leader. Both men have been accused of orchestrating the murder of their fellow colleague.

On Monday night, police carried out an operation at the facilities of the Andrés Quintana Roo taxi drivers union office. Dozens of police and military participated in the office raid hours after union leader Salomón “N”, alias “Mafer”, and Óscar Antonio “N”, were arrested for the murder of their union partner José Luis Corral Morales, who was found dead a few days ago.

Official state and military vehicles arrived at the office along Francisco I. Madero Avenue unannounced. No one inside the building was allowed to leave. The surrounding city blocks were barricaded under the watchful eyes of National Guard, the Mexican Army, Navy (Semar) and State Police.

The search was carried out around 7:00 p.m. by agents from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE). A total of three men in two separate arrests, all from inside the same taxi union, have been arrested for the murder of their colleague.

While police have provided some details surrounding the murder plot, they have not provided any information on a possible motive into the murder.
