Playa del Carmen mayor says in first 2 weeks, more than 45,000 people back to work

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The head of Solidaridad, Laura Beristain Navarrete says that in the first two weeks of reopening, more than 45,000 people have gone back to work. She says that with the orange epidemiological traffic light in Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras, at least 45 percent of businesses in the municipality have been reactivated and that more than 45,000 jobs have been recovered.

The mayor added “we have started the gradual reopening of essential and non-essential activities in Solidaridad. Businesses can now open with the health protection measures and 30 percent of their capacity.”

She emphasized that contagion prevention measures and healthy distancing must be respected, since they will allow the municipality to preserve the health of the community and continue with the opening of businesses.

Beristain Navarrete stated that she will maintain a direct approach with the productive sectors such as chambers and business associations, restaurants, hoteliers, employers, as well as civil organizations and religious associations, to ensure all measures that must be implemented for a safe and gradual return to the new normal.

She says that it is a gradual reopening, and that businesses of hotels, tourist carriers, tourist guides and dive operators, shopping malls and religious centers, theme parks and clubs golf, restaurants and food sales, theaters and cinemas, hair salons, decoration, clothing and shoe stores can operate at a 30 percent capacity.
