Cozumel, Q.R. — More than 97,000 passengers are expected to arrive aboard 25 cruise ships over a seven day stretch. The 97,000 passengers are scheduled between October 27 and November 2 on 25 cruise ships. This marks the official start of the island’s high season for this important segment of international tourism.

Cozumel Mayor José Luis Chacón Méndez celebrated this increase in cruise ship arrivals and emphasized that it is the result of collaborative work between the community, the government and the private sector.
He says their efforts have driven strategic actions that now position Cozumel as a reliable and attractive destination for cruise lines. “This growth is not a coincidence, it is the fruit of a collective effort that strengthens our economy and projects us onto the world stage,” he stated.
The Directorate of Tourism and Economic Development reported six cruise ships arrived October 27, including two unscheduled arrivals, bringing 29,688 visitors, making that day the busiest of the week.
On Tuesday the 28th, four ships with 14,606 tourists arrived and on Wednesday, another four ships carrying 14,286 passengers is expected.
For the 30th, a quartet with 13,861 cruise passengers and on Friday the 31st, four more will arrive with 16,356 travelers.
On November 1st, two ships with 6,136 people will dock the island and to close the week, on Sunday, an additional cruise ship with 2,330 tourists will arrive.

In total, 97,263 passengers and more than 18,000 crew members will visit Cozumel this week, confirming the destination’s leadership in the Americas as the number one cruise port.
