Chetumal, Q.R. — The New General Hospital being built in the city of Chetumal is 40 percent complete. Governor Mara Lezama made the announcement after touring the construction site Friday.

Accompanied by the State Secretary of Health, Flavio Carlos Rosado, Lezama said that the construction of the new hospital is moving forward with a cost of more than 1.6 billion pesos.
“A different government that never gave up until it secured this historic investment of more than 1.609 billion pesos, because in this new way of governing, when we say that health is a right, we mean it and we are working hard to guarantee it,” she emphasized.
Secretary Flavio Carlos Rosado explained that the new hospital will have 120 beds with state-of-the-art technology and 41 consulting rooms. The hospital will also have a hemodynamics suite, three general surgery operating rooms, one outpatient operating room, two delivery rooms and one obstetrics and gynecology suite.
The finished hospital will be outfitted with an MRI, CT scan and an intensive care unit for adults and neonates “And most importantly,” he said, “it will be a dignified space to care for you, those we love most.”

While touring the site, Governor Lezama added that once complete, the new Chetumal General Hospital will serve more than 270,000 people.
