Cancun, Q.R. — After executing two search warrants in Cancun, one man was arrested and 23 women rescued from forced prostitution. The State Attorney General’s Office reported that in coordination with National Guard and Municipal Police, 23 women, alleged victims of the crime of human trafficking in the form of prostitution, were located inside the buildings.

“A man was also arrested in flagrante delicto for his possible involvement in acts that probably constitute the aforementioned crime,” they said.
The first raid took place at a bar located on José López Portillo Avenue in SM 64 where officers rescued seven Mexican women and three Cuban women. The victims were forced to drink with customers, charging 200 pesos for a drink and 400 for a beer, half of which the business kept.
Initial investigations indicate that arrested man identified as Javier “N,” charged 1,000 pesos for the sexual services he offered the victims, as well as an additional 1,000 pesos for the women’s departure from the bar.
Among the detainee’s belongings were a cell phone, cash, condoms, and solid white material resembling crack cocaine.
“Similarly, another operation was carried out on properties located in lots 21 and 20A of Superblock 66 where 13 Mexican women were rescued. The victims were forced to provide sexual services for 250 pesos, of which they had to give 50 pesos as a commission to a manager, who collected the money daily and collected between 36,000 and 40,000 pesos weekly,” they reported.

The 23 rescued victims were transferred to the State Attorney General’s Office, while the detainee, along with the evidence seized, was handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and both buildings seized by the state.
