Tulum, Q.R. — The Tulum municipal government is spending more than 9 million on repairing the town’s coastal road. On Monday, Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejohas kicked off the start of the coastal road rehabilitation project that will see 1.5 kilometers repaired.

“With the start of the rehabilitation of Tulum’s coastal promenade, a long-standing request from the tourism sector and the population, the request has been fulfilled.
“The project, which covers a kilometer and a half, will improve the urban image and strengthen its appeal to domestic and international visitors. With a significant investment in top-quality materials, the project represents a firm step toward the orderly development of Tulum,” he said Monday.
“It’s through actions like these that we can see that we have an administration that is transforming Tulum. And these types of momentous initiatives are possible thanks to the coordination between the private sector and the government,” he said.
David Ortiz, President of the Tulum Hotel Association, highlighted the importance of the project and thanked the municipal administration for its support.
“This is a clear example of the coordinated work that President Diego Castañón has done with the private sector. It is crucial that tourism has the necessary infrastructure to operate properly. This project will undoubtedly contribute to increasing tourist influx ,” he stated.
Christian Moguel, Director of Construction Monitoring, said the project is a cost investment of 9,950,000 pesos. He explained that top-quality materials will be used and legal guidelines for the public works project will be followed to ensure the infrastructure’s durability.
Moguel added that in areas affected by landslides, work will be carried out using hydraulic support and special membranes to allow adequate water flow and prevent future structural damage, allowing for comprehensive care in this important tourist area.

The rehabilitation of the coastal promenade responds to one of the community’s ongoing demands and represents a significant advance in strengthening Tulum’s tourism infrastructure.
