Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Mexico has spent over $42.4 billion USD in tourism promotions around the country already this year. Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism. Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, said the Tourism Investment Portfolio in the first four months consisted of 773 projects.
According to Rodríguez Zamora, the portfolio registered a 10 percent increase in the number of projects and a 16 percent increase in the amount of investment compared to the third quarter of 2025.

She specified that Quintana Roo concentrates the largest amount of planned tourism investment with 20 percent of the national total followed by Nayarit with 19 percent, Jalisco with 12 percent and Baja California Sur with 9 percent.
“The Tourism Investment Portfolio is consolidating itself as a more solid, strategic and professional tool, aligned with the country’s vision of economic and tourism development,” she explained.
Rodríguez Zamora says the Ministry has the participation of all 32 states, consolidating itself as a national instrument for the planning, monitoring and strengthening of tourism investments in Mexico.
“For the first time, having information from all 32 federal entities allows us to have a more complete national view of tourism investments, identify trends, strengthen planning, and better monitor the development of strategic projects throughout the country,” said Rodríguez Zamora.
Part of the process of strengthening and professionalizing the Portfolio, the project registration criteria were standardized with the Ministry of Economy in alignment with the Mexico Plan.

Furthermore, an initial data cleansing exercise was carried out to retain only current projects with up-to-date information which will allow for more accurate, comparable, and useful information for decision-making and monitoring of tourism investments.
She added tha, starting this quarter, the registration of the tourism segment to which each project belongs was incorporated, which will allow for a more precise identification of investment trends, development niches and opportunities to diversify the national tourism offer.
According to the information collected, the sun and beach tourism segment accounts for 28 percent of the registered projects, followed by cultural tourism with 20 percent, business tourism with 15 percent and ecotourism with 11 percent, which reflects the diversification and strengthening of the country’s tourism offer.
