Tulum, Q.R — Mexico’s Mexicana de Aviación landed at the Tulum International Airport Monday for the first time. The flight arrived full with 132 passengers arrived from the Felipe Ángeles airport terminal (AIFA).

It was the first flight from the fleet of the airline’s new planes to land at the Tulum airport. Mexicana de Aviación currently has three of the 20 new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft ordered.
According to Governor Mara Lezama, since the Tulum airport began operations on December 1, 2023, it has established itself as a dynamic airport for the Mexican Caribbean, transporting more than two million passengers.
Lezama report that the Mexicana flight also left Tulum at full capacity, representing another step in strengthening air connectivity to the state, directly contributing to economic development, job creation and the diversification of tourism markets.
The Quintana Roo government recognizes Mexicana de Aviación’s commitment to expanding its fleet and opening new routes that efficiently connect to the state’s main destinations. These types of actions are key to consolidating the Mexican Caribbean as one of the most important and competitive destinations nationally and internationally.

Bernardo Cueto Riestra, head of the State Secretariat of Tourism, also acknowledged the airline’s route. “We will continue working hand in hand with airlines and tourism sector stakeholders to ensure robust and sustainable air connectivity that boosts tourism, strengthens local communities, and maintains Quintana Roo as a leader in the industry, as established in the New Era of Tourism.”
Last week, Mexicana de Aviación announced their new route to Tulum starting August 25 using the airline’s Embraer E2 from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA). The airline offers a mid-morning departure, 10:00 a.m., from AIFA, landing at Tulum International 1 hour and 55 minutes later.
