Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde says the new security police centre at Punta Sam is progressing. On Friday, Gómez toured the up-and-coming facility that is being built in Costa Mujeres.

The new Command and Control Center (C2) in Costa Mujeres will operate from Punta Sam. She reported that during her supervisory tour, she observed the significant progress of the project which is now in its final stages, noting the rapid progress of construction.
Gómez said the new centre will be important for strengthening the municipality’s security, featuring cutting-edge technology that will allow for real-time monitoring of events both on the mainland and on the island.
She says the new C2 security centre will be equipped with a 7×2 meter video wall for constant surveillance camera monitoring as well as 22 new high-tech cameras capable of reading vehicle license plates and detecting people through facial recognition.
The Mayor emphasized that this transformative project has been possible thanks to proper administration and transparency in the management of public resources.

She added that funds from the Environmental Sanitation Law, derived from the area’s tourism success, as well as from the Municipal Strengthening Contribution Fund (Fortamun), were used.
