Construction of new C2 security centre for Isla Mujeres moving forward

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Municipal Government of Isla Mujeres says construction of a new C2 security centre is moving forward. Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde reported that the Costa Mujeres-based building will strengthen security in the area.

The construction of the Costa Mujeres Command and Control Center (C2) will operate from Punta Sam as part of the new security and peace-building strategy.

This project, which is part of the package of for the current fiscal year, seeks to strengthen the security infrastructure in an area that is strategic for the municipality, the entrance to the municipality and access to the tourist corridor of Isla Mujeres.

The new C2 of Costa Mujeres, in addition to strengthening security in this area of the municipality, will contribute to the construction of peace in Quintana Roo, since the Municipal Government works hand in hand with the State Government in the new security model.

The General Directorate of Public Works reported that this new complex will have administrative areas, private offices, a meeting room, a multifunctional auditorium, monitoring and analysis spaces, technical support, a crisis room and rest areas and staff quarters.

This space will be at the forefront with state-of-the-art video cameras and monitoring points, to provide better service to tourists, workers and residents of this coastal area.

This latest C2, which will be the municipality’s second, is located in Punta Sam in the Continental Zone of Isla Mujeres. Construction on the second C2 building began in November of 2024.
