Diego “N” has been returned to Cancun after hiding in Valladolid.

Diego “N” was wanted “for his probable participation in acts possibly constituting the crimes of rape and domestic violence to the detriment of a minor victim,” they reported.

According to police, Diego “N” was charged for rape and abuse that took place during the months of April and May of this year.

“The events attributed to Diego “N” occurred starting on April 28 of this year, when the mother of the victim, a one-year-and-six-month-old boy, left him in the care of a neighbor while she went to work. Later, the accused, who was the woman’s partner, would pick up the child.

“On May 2, the child was admitted to the Jesús Kumate Rodríguez General Hospital of Cancun with a traumatic brain injury with hematoma, left eye edema and probable sexual abuse,” Cancun authorities reported in a statement.

“Following the medical assessment and given the presence of evidence consistent with a sexual assault, the victim’s mother was advised to file the corresponding complaint with this Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Diego “N” was located in Valladolid, Yucatan, where, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office of that state, the arrest warrant against him was executed.

He was subsequently transferred back to Quintana Roo.

Police also said that the child’s mother, identified as Perla del Carmen “N”, was arrested and charged with the same crimes in May of this year. She is currently being held in pretrial detention.
