Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A blown rear tire is being blamed for a rollover south of Playa del Carmen Thursday. The driver of the car reported a rear tire exploding while he was driving along the federal highway.
The silver sedan rolled at least once when the tire blew, sending the car off the road and into the verge where it came to a rest on its roof.
Passing motorists stopped to help the driver get out of his car and call for help.
Playa del Carmen firemen and paramedics were first responders, assisting the driver who was found with only minor injuries.
National Guard Highways took over the scene of the accident to ensure the vehicle was removed from the side of the highway.
