Tulum Santandar sending customers an hour’s drive north amid upcoming closure

Tulum, Q.R. — Another business closure has been announced in the seaside town of Tulum. On Monday, clients of Santander who arrived to do their banking found a relocation notice posted on the sides of the building.

According to the notices posted on the bank, Santander customers in Tulum will have to go to Playa del Carmen for their in-person banking needs. While the notices do specify a location in Playacar, they did not provide a reason for its Tulum location closure or an exact closure date.

Customers of the Tulum Santandar will soon have to travel about an hour north to Playa del Carmen for in-person assistance. The Tulum Sandtander is the only brick-and-morter bank in the town.

Santander did not provide an official closure date or a reason for the upcoming closure. The bank also did not provide information on the operations of their two ATM locations in Tulum.

Current Santander customers living in Tulum are now being transferred to branch 0825 in Playacar in the neighboring municipality of Playa del Carmen. The bank did not provide any public comment on the closure, nor did they provide notice on their social media accounts.
