Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun police say three people arrested on the Punta Sam highway are being investigated for high-impact crimes. An FGE prosecutor says all three are alleged involved in at least five city murders and two attempted murders.
The trio were taken into custody during a stop last week on a roadway north of the city. They were arrested on drug and weapons-related offenses that have since escalated to murder and attempted murder.

Arochi Lugo Arana, prosecutor from the FGE, said 28 year old José Enrique “N” from Tabasco, 22 year old Samuel “N” from Jalisco and 29 year old Esmeralda Azucena “N”, also from Jalisco, are in custody.
According to Lugo Arana, all three are being investigated for their roles in at least five high-impact crimes that have left at least five people dead around Cancun. Lugo Arana reported on Monday that José Enrique “N” is believed the leader of the group, while Samuel “N” is reported to be a hit man and Azucena “N”, the group’s lookout.
Police are working on connecting them to a multiple homicide in Valle Verde in October of 2025, as well the recent killing of a man and woman heading out to a dance rehearsal earlier this month in a case of mistaken identity.
Lugo Arana explained that the three criminal group members operate in Cancun and Lazaro Cardenas where they were engaged in a dispute with a rival gang.
She says they are believed responsible for the deaths of Ramsés Emmanuel “N” and José Enrique “N” who were killed on October 24, 2025, in SM 234. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the motive was to control drug sales in the area.
They were also linked to the murder of Álvaro “N” and the attempted murders of Orlando “N” and Araceli “N” on March 30, 2026, at a bar in SM 238 and the deaths of Josué “N” and Nayeli “N”, which occurred on October 11of this year in Los Corales of Cancun.

During their arrests, authorities seized two firearms, a Taurus and a Glock, as well as their vehicle. They are facing drug and firearm related charges along with murder and attempted murder.
