The State Attorney General (FGE) said Investigative Police, in coordination with the National Defense Secretariat and Municipal Police, arrested Ricardo “N” for weapon and drug-related offences.

Ricardo “N” was located traveling on a dirt road heading toward the Jacinto Pat ejido at kilometer 12 of the Tulum-Cobá highway, police said.

He was located by the agents while handling substances of possible narcotics, they said.

“Following this, police proceeded to conduct the legal inspection, during which they secured doses of green dried herb with the characteristics of marijuana, a cell phone, a short firearm, a magazine and usable cartridges,” the FGE reported.

“Also, upon inspecting the white vehicle with the word “taxi” in which he was traveling, the police found green dried grass, two short firearms, three magazines, live cartridges, as well as two long firearms,” they said.

After completing the legal procedures, Ricardo “N” was taken into custody. All five guns were seized along with his stash of narcotics. Police say Tulum taxi driver Ricardo “N” is facing charges including the illegal possession of drugs and weapons.
