Cancun, Q.R. — A man found guilty for his part in the disappearance of a young Isla Mujeres girl has had his sentence upheld. Ángel Conrado Salas Blanco was sentenced to 50 years for the disappearance of Francisca Mariner who was 12 at the time she went missing in 2020.
Her boyfriend, Ángel Conrado Salas Blanco, was found guilty of participating in her disappearance. In October of 2024, he was sentenced to 50 years which he appealed in November of 2024. On Tuesday, authorities reported that a Cancun judge has upheld his sentence.
“The State Attorney General’s Office reports that the judge of the Ninth Chamber of the Oral Criminal System confirmed the 50-year prison sentence for Ángel Conrado Salas Blanco for the crime of disappearance of persons committed by private individuals, in the case of Francisca Mariner.
“The above, following the appeal filed on November 8, 2024, against the final judgment issued on October 14, 2024, in the First Instance Criminal Oral Trial Court of the Judicial District of Cancun.
“The convicted, Ángel Conrado Salas Blanco, was the victim’s romantic partner who disappeared from the home where they lived with the accused’s family on June 22, 2020.

“A day later he filed a missing person’s report with the State Attorney General’s Office, prompting the issuance of an Amber Alert and the Alba Protocol for locating his ex-partner. However, field and office investigations by this Social Representation established that the convicted man lied to evade responsibility when filing the missing person report, since he was the one who participated in the events.
“After analyzing all the evidence provided by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the trial judge sentenced Ángel Conrado Salas Blanco to 50 years in prison in addition to a fine of 695,040 pesos and full reparation for damages.”
