Inspectors conducting public transport studies in busy Playa del Carmen points

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The Quintana Roo State Mobility Institute (IMOVEQROO) is conducting public transport studies. Studies are being done on passenger use in high transport areas around the city.

Inspectors say the goal is to generate accurate information that will allow for improved service for users. The studies are being conducted this week from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in high-use locations.

Inspectors from the Institute are counting units, buses and vans (combis) and recording passage times and measuring passenger occupancy levels.

“The information is captured using specialized formats that allow the data obtained to be integrated in an orderly manner, facilitating its subsequent statistical processing and technical analysis,” Imoveqroo (Instituto de Movilidad del Estado de Quintana Roo) reported in a statement.

As part of this methodology, in addition to collecting operational data, Imoveqroo staff conduct direct surveys of public transport users in order to understand their experience, needs and main areas for improvement in the service.

These studies are fundamental to understanding how people move within the city, identifying mobility patterns, and evaluating the relationship between the supply and demand of public transport.

Integrating this information allows for building a solid technical basis for decision-making, aimed at optimizing routes, reducing waiting times, and improving service quality.

With these actions, Imoveqroo reaffirms its commitment to promoting more orderly, efficient, and people-centered mobility, based on on-the-ground work, citizen listening, and data-driven planning.
