Gas pumps in four regions continue to be affected by technical dispatch failure

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama says there are still several gas stations being affected by the internal distribution failure. What was initially reported to be a problem only in Cancun has been found in several other regions across the state.

On Thursday, Governor Lezama reported that the issue is not related to a state gas supply, but is due to a technical issue with some gas stations. She said gas stations in at least four cities were affected by the technical issue, which is still being worked on.

During her La Voz del Pueblo program Thursday, Governor Mara Lezama reported that a temporary problem in the fueling system of several gas stations caused confusion over a suspected state shortage.

She confirmed that the state is not experiencing a fuel shortage issue and that the problem is currently only affecting less than a dozen gas stations throughout the state.

She said as of Thursday, four stations in Cancun, three in Playa del Carmen, one in Chetumal and one in Tulum remained out of service due to the internal technical problem. She also said that those stations are expecting to be up and running again by the end of the day.

The gas station pumping problems were reported early Tuesday morning around the city of Cancun when some Pemex and La Gas pumps were unable to provide fuel. The issue was determined to be an internal fuel dispatch failure that did not affect all pumps across the state, but only some named gas stations that use the same internal technology to pump gas.
