Former Cancun airport worker sentenced after charges of transporting narcotics

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun airport worker charged with transporting narcotics has been sentenced to more than four years in prison. Dilan “G”, who worked in baggage, was found with nearly 46 kilos of cocaine in two suitcases during a search.

The discovery and subsequent arrest took place March 8 when he was attempting to leave the country. During a search of his luggage in terminal 4, Customs located a bag of cocaine. Dilan “G” was arrested by National Guard and charged with the federal crime of transporting narcotics.

Through a statement, the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) announced that “the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office in Quintana Roo obtained a conviction from a judge against Dilan “G” for his probable responsibility in the crime against public health for the purpose of extracting the narcotic cocaine hydrochloride from the country.”

According to the report, on March 8 while carrying out prevention and surveillance inspections at Terminal Four of the Cancun International Airport, members of the National Guard arrested said person who it turned out was an airport collaborator carrying two suitcases containing 45.7 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride.

“At that time, Dilan “G” and the million-dollar shipment were placed at the disposal of the federal authority who took charge of the corresponding investigations,” the FGR said.

A judge ordered a sentence of four years, five months and 10 days in prison which will be served at the Social Reintegration Center (Cereso) in Cancun.
